Hello I installed windows 7 the other day on my HP Dv9000 Laptop and everything seems to work fine. I checked device manager and I saw under “other devices” 2 base System devices doesn’t have installed drivers. Base System Device #1: Device Function Summary Manufacture: Unknown Location: PCI bus 7, device 9, function 2 Device status: The drivers for this device are not installed.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A-215-S7437, and I have been trying to figure out what in the world those two unknown 'Base System Device's' were. If anyone else is having the same issues with a Toshiba, the devices (with their true names) show up as any of the following. Unknown Base System Device (PCI bus 20, device 6, function 2) = Ricoh SD/MMC Host Controller Unknown Base System Device (PCI bus 20, device 6, function 3) = Ricoh Memory Stick Controller Unknown Base System Device (PCI bus 20, device 6, function 4) = Ricoh xD-Picture Card Controller Toshiba's Support page has the drivers for download, as long as you know SPECIFICALLY what you're looking for.

Base system device driver dan macduff Jun 27, 2012, 3:27 AM where can i download it and what is it for. Also it isn't installed on a fresh installation of windows 7 or when the system is updated. I have just installed windows 7 - it is the upgrade for hp. I did a clean install. Everything seems to be working fine except i am missing some drivers other devices all the base system devices - I don't know what it does so unsure of which driver to load in its place the computer is a pavillion dv6 1242tx - Thanks in advance.

Code 28 means 'The drivers for this device are not installed'. I will be glad to assist you. As you know, Windows 7 drivers for your model are not available from the HP website. I would suggest you to refer to the following link, download vista drivers and install them in compatibility mode. Refer to this link to make older programs run in this version of Windows.
